Introduced for the 2005–2006 model years, the Maserati GranSport represents the most focused evolution of the 4200 Cambiocorsa Coupe, blending Italian grand touring charm with excellent performance. Power comes from a Ferrari-derived 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 401 horsepower, paired exclusively with Maserati’s Cambiocorsa 6-speed F1 paddle-shift transaxle with an automated shifting option. Further, its M138 engine uses a timing chain as opposed to a timing belt found in pre-2002 cars, which is often associated with costlier and frequent maintenance intervals. Compared to the standard Coupe, the GranSport received revised suspension tuning, quicker steering, larger brakes, aerodynamic enhancements, and weight-saving measures, resulting in a more engaging and athletic driving experience while retaining everyday usability and refinement.
