The Mercedes Benz 190SL, produced from 1955 to 1963, was introduced as a more accessible, grand-touring companion to the exotic 300SL. Developed under Max Hoffman’s influence to meet U.S. demand for a stylish yet approachable sports car, it shared design cues with the iconic “Gullwing” but used a 1.9-liter inline-four derived from the 300SL’s engine architecture. Built on a shortened Ponton sedan chassis, the 190SL offered refined road manners, elegant styling, and a removable hardtop or soft-top convertible format. It quickly became known for its reliability, craftsmanship, and charm, ultimately cementing its place as a classic collectible that helped establish their reputation for producing the finest automobiles on the market.
This 190SL has lived a charmed life and it excellent throughout. It has been the subject of an excellent cosmetic restoration in the past and still presents wonderfully. Under current ownership, it was acquired from Cooper Classic Cars of Manhattan, NY circa 2013 where it has been enjoyed and properly cared for and kept in a climate controlled facility.. It has been mechanically maintained, regardless of use, and is absolutely turnkey. All functions are working as intended.
The sale of this 1962 Mercedes Benz 190SL is accompanied by its original keys, history file, and factory hard top.
